We recently stayed at the resort for a very special occasion, my husband’s 40th birthday, and while there were some positives, there are definitely areas that need improvement. The staff overall was friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately, many of the employees, especially at the restaurant, seemed very young and inexperienced. The food and drinks were decent, but the service was noticeably slow. One employee who truly deserves recognition is Darla at the front desk. She was, without a doubt, the best employee we encountered during our entire stay. She went above and beyond to help us with several situations and always provided guidance with a friendly and professional attitude. The biggest issue we experienced was the extremely slow process of seating guests at the restaurant. There was consistently a very long line at the entrance, and it seemed to take far too long to get people seated. This really needs to be addressed, especially during busy periods. Our biggest disappointment, however, was our birthday dinner. We had a group of 17 people celebrating a very important milestone, my husband’s 40th birthday. We absolutely loved our stay at the Sandpiper Resort. It was the easiest family reunion we’ve ever had: relaxed, all-inclusive, and welcoming. The staff was uniformly supportive and friendly, and any issues were immediately resolved. The water was beautiful and the all inclusive nature made everything very easy. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We paid extra to look at the water, and we were so happy with the view and the convenience. We will return! Many thanks for the excellent accommodations.

One thing that continues to disappoint me at many all-inclusive resorts and buffets—and unfortunately this place was no exception—is the attitude of some employees at the meat stations. When I politely asked for a larger portion of meat than the very small piece initially offered, the chef immediately showed visible frustration. An employee named Claudia also made me feel as though I was asking for something unreasonable. Instead of resolving the situation professionally, management was called, and rather than improving the experience, they supported the idea that guests are not supposed to receive more than the small portion they choose to serve. That completely defeats the purpose of advertising an “all-inclusive” experience. If the resort intends to strictly limit premium items like meat, then be transparent about it. Clearly explain the limits before guests pay, or offer those items as an extra charge. What shouldn’t happen is charging premium all-inclusive prices while making guests feel guilty or embarrassed for wanting another serving of food that they reasonably expected to be included. Nice all-inclusive experience, some positives and negatives, but mostly positive. Stayed here four nights with a large group, and for the price, I’d recommend it - we all agreed it was a value when considering cost vs what we got. Though don’t go expecting a super refined/high-end all inclusive. Positives: - Nice property, scenic lake, never overly crowded, and the two pools were nice. - The coffee window was great, and the staff that worked the coffee station were wonderful (Rebecca was fantastic and the best staff we encountered at the resort). - Food was fairly good (we had all our meals at the main cafeteria, as options beyond that were quite limited) though at times a bit limited for vegans and vegetarians. - the sports bar was a great place to hang after dinner, and watch sports games. Great TV screen and sound. - Free kayak rental was nice. - As a IHG Platinum member, I was upgraded to a nicer room type and given premium drink vouchers, which was a nice touch. - The drinks overall were good. Guests could pay a few dollars for premium drinks (eg Patron, Bulleit, etc) if they wanted something better than well liquor. - Rooms were somewhat updated, and had great AC which was
